This place was perfection!
Tyrrell Lake is 7km from the small town of Sea Lake in Regional Victoria and has to be on your ‘must visit’ list. It’s the largest saltwater lake in Victoria. Visit in winter through spring when there is still water in the lake for the beautiful pink reflections.
What you need to know before you go!
- Lake Tyrrell turns pink from the red pigment that’s emitted by the pink microalgae red marine phytoplankton.
- Head down in the day for awesome photos with reflection from the glassy water, but also revisit at sunset for epic scenes.
- It’s known as one of the best places in Australia for star navigation.
- Stop at the information bay for all you need to know about the area.
- Don’t tow your van down. If it’s busy, you may have trouble turning around.
