After staying at over 250 camps,
This place gets our vote for the most underrated!
Before we start, if you like hidden gems and family adventures, follow along @thefamilyfind.
I seriously cannot believe this place,
White sand, the clearest, blue water, hidden rockpools and even the ability to search an island at low tide!
So many people miss this amazing spot and it was our favourite beach in the whole of SA!
It’s about 6km off the main road, but the dirt road in is a breeze and would be fine for 2WD!
Completely off grid with no phone service, but a very clean drop toilet.
Just 20 minutes from Tumby bay and an hour from Port Lincoln.
It’s protected from the wind and is a great place for families. Perfect for the SUP. Little lagoons are created on low tide that the kids played in all day and the hidden rockpools on the south side of the rock platform are AMAZING!
There’s only 11 camp spots, all are big enough to house a van! You have to book online, but we did this only the day before we arrived and had no trouble booking!
We think sites 5-8 were the best, however we were on 2 and it was still great.
Make sure you save this post to come back to!

Here’s my unpopular opinion but hear me out!
Before we get started be sure to give @thefamilyfind a follow if you love discovering hidden gems)
This has to be the most beautiful 665m of road in Australia!
And yes, I think the Grand Pacific Drive is better than the Great Ocean Road - come at me.
It really does take your breath away!

Hot tips for taking on Australia’s unsealed roads.
Before we start, if you find this useful make sure to give us a follow so we can continue to share our journey with you @thefamilyfind
What most people don’t know is that outside of the main populated areas in Australia, the road system is mainly unsealed. Which might seem scary at first, but it’s nothing to fear, be prepared and enjoy the ride.
Ladies, the last point is arguably the most important!
• Drop your tyre pressure slightly for long stretches (but know how to reinflate).• Turn your headlights on, even in the day — dust kills visibility.
• Check road conditions before you go, rain can close roads fast.
• Don’t sit on someone’s tail in dust — you literally can’t see what’s coming.
• Check your spare tyre before you leave. Not when you need it.
• Bring a basic recovery kit (start with MAXTRAX and a shovel for light stuff) • After long dirt stretches, check under your car for loose bits and leaks.
• Slow down when you see other vehicles approaching. Rocks can flick up and will easily smash a window! (Yes it’s happened to us) • Secure EVERYTHING in the car. It will move.
• Take more water than you think you’ll need. Always.
• Tell someone where you’re going if you’re heading remote.
• Expect zero phone service, download offline maps and have a backup plan if you need help like Starlink or a PLB.

• The “shorter route” on the map isn’t always the better one. Do a little trip planning before you set off.
• Lastly, ladies, wear a supportive bra, I promise you it makes a difference!
